“Music and Rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul.”
Sessions with Lee
With decades of experience composing and improvising music to capture, express, and evoke nuanced emotional states, Lee has developed a practice for helping individuals as they work though difficult emotional experiences, times of great change, and periods of personal transformation.
Getting unstuck through Holotropic Playback
Psychologist C. G. Jung famously said that, “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” When we find ourselves in repetitious emotional and behavioral patterns which fall short of serving our goals and dreams, we can usually find an unconscious idea or belief - one formed early in life - driving those unhelpful cycles.
Unlocking new energy for life
Holotropic (“toward wholeness”) Playback allows individuals to experience overwhelming emotional challenges through artful expression, helping to “reprogram” their interpretations of life circumstances which might be creating emotional blockages. The result can be newfound energy for the things that matter most.
What are sessions like?
A safe, confidential container
Clients share their story in a confidential setting. Lee listens, offers observations, and ask questions to inform the playback.
An opportunity for emotional healing
Music has been proven to ease pain, both physical and emotional. The goal of Holotropic Playback is to take this a step further; through the beauty of artful expression, emotional pain can be alchemized, making way for a fuller sense of self.
A private, personalized concert
After the conversation, Lee improvises music as an expression of and response to the content of the issue. The client has the opportunity to relax in a comfortable chair or on a therapy table. After the session, the client receives a recording of the playback.
A good fit?
Holotropic Playback can help individuals experiencing:
Grief (e.g. loss of a loved, end of a relationship, etc.)
Relationship challenges (e.g. with a partner, parent, child, coworker, etc.)
Minor (non-clinical) trauma or anxiety
Lack of creativity/vital energy
Spiritual and/or psychological growth
Holotropic Playback is not a substitution for treatment from a licensed mental health professional and is not a good fit for individuals with untreated mental disorders.
