The folk hymn arrangement begins with a plaintive a cappella setting of “Hymn of Thanksgiving” giving ways to a richly crafted harmonization of the second verse. The piano enters for a reflective interlude which ramps up to a joyous and buoyant “America, the Beautiful”, creatively set in 3/4 time and carry along by a jubilant piano part. A great concert closer!
